Mahmoud El-Assir is senior vice president and chief information officer of Global Technology Services for Verizon. He is responsible for developing and guiding Verizon’s technology strategy across the company’s internal technical infrastructure.  His role includes overseeing Verizon’s Data Centers and Cloud Strategy, Information Technology DevOps transformation and cloud adoption, Information Technology Network and Technical infrastructure with focus on transforming the employees’ digital workplace experience in addition to the corporate functions related to Finance, HR and supply chain.

Prior to his current position, El-Assir was senior vice president and chief information officer for Verizon's Consumer and Mass Business Group with responsibility for the strategy, architecture, development and management of the information systems portfolio enabling marketing, sales, delivery and assurance of voice, data and video services to consumer and mass business customers.  He also had responsibility for the development and support of FiOS TV and Internet products and services.

Previously, El-Assir was vice president – Information Technology Sales & Marketing Systems, responsible for development, implementation and support of sales and marketing systems. He was also responsible for the program management, architecture, design, development of National metrics and Analytics, Voice Portal, verizon.com account management, as well as global field operations development and execution.

El-Assir holds a Bachelor's of Engineering degree in computer and communications engineering from American University of Beirut and worked in the AUB Multi-Media Lab as a research assistant with focus on Network security and administration. He received Dean's Award for creative achievement in the field of Computer and Communication Engineering, 1997, by the Dean of the faculty of engineering and architecture at AUB.
